Morcem^® Cal Piedra G

Technical Characteristics

Product based on natural hydraulic lime, natural pozzolan, selected aggregates and other additives. Contains no cement.

Advantages and Uses

• Mortar for repairing and filling joints in brick or natural stone walls.
• Suitable for refurbishment due to its high compatibility with traditional systems.
• For indoor and outdoor application in new-build construction where improved living conditions are required compared with cement-based mortars.
• Manual or mechanical application.
• Highly permeable to water vapour, allowing the substrate to breathe.
• Impermeable to rainwater.
• High adhesion to the substrate and excellent plasticity.
• Mortar with a low environmental footprint, manufactured with mineral-origin raw materials. It has an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).
   

Suitable Substrates

• Porous, highly absorbent, dry or very hot surfaces must be dampened at the time of application.
• For refurbishment work, substrates must be properly prepared before application.
   

Application Procedure

• Add water and mix manually or mechanically until a homogeneous and workable consistency is obtained.
• Clean the joints between units through their full depth, pre-dampen and apply the mortar with a pointing trowel or suitable tool.
• For thicknesses greater than 1,5 cm or highly irregular surfaces, fill in layers.
• For refurbishment work, substrates must be properly prepared before application by removing surface salts and residues from previous work, as well as any unsound or low-strength mortar.
• If necessary, use Morcem® Cal Base to rebuild deteriorated masonry units or fill joints.
• Always thoroughly wet the substrates before application.
   

Recommendations

• Do not apply below 5ºC or above 30ºC.
• Do not apply where there is a risk of frost, rain, strong winds or direct sunlight.
• In extreme weather conditions (strong winds or high temperatures), gently spray the product with water on the day after application.
• Adjust the mixing water, avoiding excess, and allow the required consistency to develop through mixing (3-5 min.). Do not add water to mortar that has already been mixed.
• The natural origin of the raw materials used in Morcem® Cal mortars may cause slight colour variations between different production batches.
   

Packaging and Storage

25 kg plastic-lined paper bags.
Store for up to 1 year in its original sealed packaging, protected from weather and moisture.

Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

Cement based mortar prepared with aggregates that are supplied close to the production center, which reduces the greenhouse gas emissions that would otherwise arise from their transport. Manufactured in production centers with an Environmental management certified system following ISO 14001 regulation, offering a firm promise of sustainability and respect for the environment.
Cement based mortar with type III ecological label (the most strict) Environmental Product Declaration verified externally by AENOR.
