Technical Characteristics

Product based on natural hydraulic lime, selected aggregates and other additives. Contains no cement.

Advantages and Uses

•    Internal and external render.
•    Suitable for refurbishment due to its high compatibility with traditional systems.
•    For indoor and outdoor application in new-build construction where improved living conditions are required compared with cement-based mortars.
•    Highly permeable to water vapour, allowing the substrate to breathe.
•    High adhesion to the substrate and excellent plasticity.
•    Smooth or float finish.
•    Manual or mechanical application.
•    Plasters and renders.
•    For restoration and new-build work following healthy-building or bioconstruction criteria.
•    Mortar with a low environmental footprint, manufactured with mineral-origin raw materials. It has an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).
 

Suitable Substrates

•    Apply over hardened substrates previously rendered with Morcem® Cal Base.
•    Thoroughly dampen the substrate and wait until the surface water film has disappeared before application.
•    Do not apply over gypsum, paint or organic coatings.
 

Application Procedure

• To knead the material, add water and mix mechanically until it takes on an even and workable consistency 
• Spread the product with an average thickness of 0.5 cm, not exceeding 0.8 cm for the same layer.
• Cure the material applied for 24 hours after applying, humidifying it and protecting it from the sun.

To assure ensure good compatibility between the surface substrate and the coatings, take the following steps:

•    Before finishing coatings with MORCEM® CAL ACABADO, the substrate must be cured. When applying over MORCEM® CAL BASE, wait 24-48 hours per centimetre of base mortar applied.
•    At least 24 hours before applying MORCEM® CAL ACABADO, thoroughly dampen the substrate.
•    On the day of application, dampen the substrate and wait until the surface sheen has disappeared before spreading MORCEM® CAL ACABADO over it.
•    For mixing, add water and mechanically mix until a homogeneous and workable consistency is obtained.
•    Spread the product to an average thickness of 0.5 cm, without exceeding 0.8 cm in a single coat.
•    Cure the applied material by dampening it and protecting it from direct sunlight for 24 hours after application.

Recommendations

•    Do not apply below 5ºC or above 30ºC.
•    Do not apply where there is a risk of frost, rain, strong winds or direct sunlight.
•    It is advisable to gently spray the product with water on the day after application.
•    Adjust the mixing water, avoiding excess, and allow the required consistency to develop through mixing (3-5 min.). Do not add water to mortar that has already been mixed.
•    The natural origin of the raw materials used in Morcem® Cal mortars may cause slight colour variations between different production batches.
 

Packaging and Storage

25 kg plastic-lined paper bags.
Store for up to 1 year in the original sealed packaging, protected from weather and moisture.

Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

Cement based mortar prepared with aggregates that are supplied close to the production center, which reduces the greenhouse gas emissions that would otherwise arise from their transport. Manufactured in production centers with an Environmental management certified system following ISO 14001 regulation, offering a firm promise of sustainability and respect for the environment.
Cement based mortar with type III ecological label (the most strict) Environmental Product Declaration verified externally by AENOR.
