Technical Characteristics

Product based on natural hydraulic lime, pozzolanic fillers, selected aggregates and other additives. Contains no cement.

Advantages and Uses

  • Suitable for refurbishment due to its high compatibility with traditional systems.
  • For structural reinforcement and consolidation of masonry walls, pillars and vaults by low-pressure injection.
  • High water vapour permeability.
  • Fluid and cohesive mix.
  • High resistance to salts.
  • Free from segregation and bleeding.
  • Low soluble salt content.
  • High mechanical strength.
  • Mortar with a low environmental footprint, manufactured with mineral-origin raw materials. It has an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).

Suitable Substrates

  • Elements to be consolidated must first be treated by filling missing volumes and sealing joints between stones or bricks. Render or formwork where the masonry is not to remain exposed. Sealing or rendering must be carried out with compatible mortars from the Morcem® Cal range to maintain the breathability of the substrate.

Application Procedure

  • Drill horizontal or inclined holes, at a maximum angle of 30º, in the surface to be treated and insert injection tubes 1,5 to 2 cm in section at suitable intervals, forming a square or staggered grid depending on the condition of the substrate to be consolidated, with approximately 50 cm between holes. These injection tubes must penetrate approximately 15 cm into the structure.
  • Flush the network of internal channels by saturating the entire structure with water through the upper injectors without pressure, so as not to damage the channel network, ensuring that water flows out through the lower injectors. Inject the mortar only after ensuring that all the water has drained away or been absorbed by the structure.
  • Mix manually or mechanically with the specified amount of water (5.5-6 l per bag) until a fluid consistency is obtained, gradually adding the powder product to part of the required water and then adding the remaining water, completing the mixing for approximately 5 minutes.
  • Inject the material continuously at low pressure, taking account of the condition of the substrate, working from bottom to top to ensure that air contained within the substrate is expelled until the material appears at the upper injectors. Control the pressure according to the condition of the substrate, avoiding damage to the existing masonry.
  • For horizontal surfaces, use low-pressure injection or gravity feed and provide outlet holes in areas opposite the injection points.

Recommendations

  • Use the mortar within 30 minutes of mixing.
  • Do not reuse mixed product from previous batches.
  • Do not apply below 5ºC nor above 30ºC.
  • Do not apply where there is a risk of frost or on submerged substrates.
  • Thoroughly dampen the wall.

Packaging and Storage

15 kg plastic-lined paper bags. Store for up to 1 year in the original sealed packaging, protected from weather and moisture.

Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

Cement based mortar prepared with aggregates that are supplied close to the production center, which reduces the greenhouse gas emissions that would otherwise arise from their transport. Manufactured in production centers with an Environmental management certified system following ISO 14001 regulation, offering a firm promise of sustainability and respect for the environment.
Cement based mortar with type III ecological label (the most strict) Environmental Product Declaration verified externally by AENOR.
